Memorial Weekend - Cincinnati, OH

The Comets played in the Tanner Memorial Baseball Tournament again this year & were able to go undefeated to capture the U12 title for a second time. I wasn't able to go down on Saturday, but thanks to some wonderful friends (Bernards & K Andersons) I was able to get down there on Sunday ALONE to watch the final 2 games. The championship, in particular, was so exciting to watch & the boys did a GREAT job. GREAT JOB GUYS!!!

Norm throws batting practice to the kids & Andrew helps retrieve balls for him. It was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL day at the ball park.

Coach Norm giving signs to the catcher (Marc) who gives the sign to the pitcher. This one, however, doesn't mean anything (according to Norm) & just works to throw the other team off if they're trying to figure out our signs. But, isn't he cute?? :)

Andrew watching the final game from the dugout. He usually only plays when it's his turn to pitch, so the "off" games can seem kind of long sometimes.

Marc wishes the 2nd place team well after receiving his trophy. He caught for a couple of the games & pitched in game 2 on Saturday w/7 strikeouts out of 9 batters faced. Great job, Marc!

Andrew gets his trophy. He didn't pitch in the final game, but he contributed to the wins on Saturday & the semi-final game on Sunday. Way to go Hammer!

Hammer Time!!!

Andrew got "called back" to pitch & he gladly agreed. This was his first start since coming back. He pitched 1 out the other night (4 pitches - 3 strikes), but this was his first full game. They didn't get the win, but he did a GREAT job on the mound. Way to go, Hammer!!! It's nice to see you out there again!!! :)

Silly child. The coaches sit on buckets right outside the dugout while the other team bats. Lindsay found a bucket her size & decided she could sit & watch the game just like they do! You should have seen her swing her leg over it to sit down - she just fits right in!!! :)

Grand Central Station

This place was AMAZING!!! I love how old it was & it was beautiful inside & out.

We were a little tired after a day of sightseeing, but it was a beautiful night to be at the ballpark.

Marc & his mom

GOT IT!!!

The player you see looking up at us in the picture below looked RIGHT up at Marc & tossed a ball to him. It was so exciting!!! :)

Game 2

We got to game 2 early enough to see the Yankees warm up. Our seats were GREAT & we were in the perfect spot to get a batting practice ball tossed out to us.

Norm & Marc in the cemetery of the church across from the WTC site. I really wanted to go see the site & it was very sobering to see all of the open space amidst the other buildings.

Marc wisely saved his birthday money for a trip to Modell's instead of spending it at the Yankees Team Store @ the stadium. The "stuff" he wanted was MUCH cheaper here. We weren't sure where to find one, so we headed for mid-town Manhattan & as soon as we came up from the subway it was right in front of us. Yeah!!!

STARBUCKS!!!!!!

They were EVERYWHERE, but this was honestly my first trip to one since we got to NY. And it was YUMMY!!!! :)

YANKEES STADIUM!!!!

If you can't tell from his expression, Marc was REALLY excited to be at Yankees Stadium. On the final leg of the subway ride, he kept asking, "How many more stops?". When we got off the train & walked down onto the street, there it was. His expression was unforgettable......

We got to the game about an hour early, so we saw the Indians warm up. It was a beautiful night for a ball game.
